Moppets

Our desire is to allow you to enjoy a time of fellowship and personal refreshment in the confidence that your children are also developing socially, creatively, and spiritually though various crafts, stories games and music.

Our Moppets program gladly welcomes children ranging from infant through six years. The children will be grouped into classrooms by age and children ages infant to under two will receive quality childcare. We are also prepared to provide care for children with special needs as well as a supervised study room for homeschoolers. Please send in any assignments and snacks necessary for your older children.

A typical MOPPETS program for children ages 2 to 6 includes:

  • Classrooms: Children will be separated by age into approximately 6 rooms.
  • Caregivers: Consistent, loving individuals who care for little ones.
  • Social: Playtime…sometimes on the playground.
  • Lesson: Bible lessons told in storybook form.
  • Music:  Songs for toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergartners.
  • Craft:  Fun age appropriate activities that reinforce what is being taught.
  • Snack:  Having this much fun makes little tummies hungry.

Things you should know:

  • Drop off time begins at 9:05am. Please sign in your child. He/she will be issued a nametag with a number. You will be given a card with the corresponding number. Present this card to your child’s teacher at pick-up. For your child’s security, if the card is lost, we may request photo identification. Pick-up time is promptly at 11:15am.
  • If your child is potty training, please let us know. We ask that you pack a change of clothes and/or extra pull-ups in the event of an accident.
  • Please be sure to label all belongings such as bottles, diaper bags, sippy cups, etc. with your child’s name. We would prefer that no toys be brought from home, as we cannot be responsible for lost or damaged items.
  • With so much activity, the children are sure to work up an appetite. Snacks will be provided, typically pretzels, animal crackers or goldfish. Be sure, upon registration, to let workers know of any allergies your child may have!

Safety…

Because the safety and well being of every child is our highest priority, all unnecessary roughness, arguing, and other disruptive behavior will be dealt with using loving but firm discipline, including “time-outs” when necessary. Please refer to the following stages of our disciplinary procedure:

  1. Teacher or helpers will use verbal correction, including specifically addressing the child’s actions and why it is unacceptable. The child will be encouraged to acknowledge his/her wrongdoing and to take appropriate action to correct the situation. If the child is willing, he/she will be praised for that choice and allowed to rejoin activities. Verbal correction for the same behavior should occur no more than twice.
  2. Teacher or helpers will administer a “time out”. The duration of the “time out” will be one minute for every year of age of that child. Teacher or helper will again explain the reasons the child’s behavior is unacceptable and why he/she has been removed from the group. If the child is willing to heed direction at the end of the “time out”, he/she will be praised for that choice and restored to the group.
  3. When discipline has been administered, both verbally and with a “time out”, and the child is unwilling to obediently acknowledge instruction, the teacher or helper may choose to send for the child’s mother. The mother may be asked to speak with the child, sit with the child, or remove the child at the teacher’s discretion.

Again, we strive to ensure the well being of all of our children in the Moppets program. These procedures are implemented to allow each child the opportunity to learn and develop in an atmosphere of encouragement, cooperation, and security.

Please feel free to speak to your child’s teacher or contact our Moppets Leader, Kym Stone with any questions or concerns you may have. We are looking forward to many wonderful and well spent mornings with all of the children in our Moppets program and wish to thank you in advance for your cooperation in making it a success!
